Protect your fleet from the dangers (and costs) of distracted driving

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s official “website for distracted driving" – yes, there really is such a thing – all but 10 of our United States have enacted some kind of ban against usage of handheld devices while driving. Eight states, including the one we’re writing from (Maryland), prohibit the usage of any kind of handheld device while behind the wheel.

Clearly, if your fleet is not already affected by this type of legislation, it soon will be. The question then becomes: what is a smarter – and safer – alternative for communicating with your drivers and/or service technicians during the working day?

A GPS tracking service integrated with onboard navigation provides exactly that alternative – but it also brings valuable additional benefits for your entire organization that many are not aware of.

Navtrak and Garmin Integration

Navtrak integrates seamlessly with Garmin™ to provide job scheduling, messaging and navigation solutions that make both drivers’ and dispatchers’ jobs easier – even as you save money and improve your fleet’s safety record.

Navtrak named certified GPS provider for the U.S. Postal Service

When the U. S. Postal Service went looking for GPS service providers to recommend to their contracted mail carriers, we’re proud that Navtrak was one of the first they selected to be a certified partner.

The USPS has made it a requirement that all trucking companies handling one of their Highway Contract Routes (HCR) collect and transmit trip and load data back to them. If these companies haven’t taken the necessary steps to prove their compliance to the new mandate by December 1, 2010, they risk losing their contract with the USPS.

Fortunately, one of Navtrak's trusted business partners, DP&C Enterprises, experts in supply chain management and logistics, had worked with these types of carriers for the last three years. Together, Navtrak and DP&C developed a customized web interface designed to automate the transfer of vehicle activity data. This new interface was created with three different service options, each designed to fit the specific needs of mail contractors.
