Sharing success with our customers

Our GPS tracking senior leadership team has stayed successful by leveraging decades of technological expertise to solve the real-world problems commercial fleets face every day. Their guiding principle for Navtrak is one they've learned from their own diverse experiences: "We can't succeed unless our customers do."

I started off in the communications technology field while serving with the U. S. Navy - this is where I gained foundational skills in problem recognition and troubleshooting. When I founded my first communications business, I fell in love with every aspect of being an entrepreneur. Forty years later, I still can't wait to get to work. In my experience, business is about putting the right team together that shares your philosophy and work ethic, and then motivating and training that team to recognize and solve business problems - for both your customers and yourselves. All of my businesses have had outside salespeople and service technicians, so I understand the inefficiencies and costs associated with a field-based workforce. The common thread running through all of my experience is figuring out how to apply technology to solve real business problems that matter. My customers have allowed me to offer this service for them over the past four decades, and for that I am grateful.

I began my career not in technology, but in the services sector. I began building a commercial real estate development company in 1978 while in law school, expecting to practice law upon graduation. But early successes building medical and general office buildings led me instead to launch PersonaCare in 1985, a seniors housing company which over the next 10 years would become an $80M company employing 1,500 people in 8 states. The successful IPO and subsequent sale of PersonaCare set the stage for me to invest my time and treasure in several enterprises, one of which -- an innovative cardiac monitoring device company - became my segue from services into technology. This enabled me to later recognize in Navtrak a special opportunity -- to utilize what I'd learned building teams of talented people in both services and technology to work with my long-time friend, Ron Hodges, building a business services provider of unique substance and approach.

Rising through the ranks of 100,000 employees at Fortune 50 Motorola for over 12 years taught me how to solve customer problems with wireless technology, and how big companies act and succeed. Working as a senior manager in a $27M heavy construction firm taught me how to operate virtually every component of a business, from keeping machinery up and running on job sites, to managing personnel in a blue collar/union environment. Starting and running my own company with a field service division for 10 years taught me how to make the right decisions on a daily basis so I could be sure to meet payroll every week. Finally, working the last 10 years with wireless data, routing and scheduling software and vehicle tracking systems has taught me how this type of technology can be a real "game changer" for almost any organization with workers in the field.
